
Imani Cezanne
is a poet, performer, educator, and arts administrator based in Los Angeles, CA. A two-time Pushcart Prize nominee and 2023 Hurston/Wright Writer in Residence, she brings over a decade of experience teaching poetry and performance to learners of all ages. She holds a degree in Africana Studies from San Francisco State University and has received fellowships from the San Francisco Arts Commission and Brooklyn Poets.
Imani's poetry career has taken her to stages nationwide, including The Kennedy Center, The Lincoln Theatre, Dodge Poetry Festival, and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. Her work has appeared on TV One’s Verses and Flow and the Bounce TV Trumpet Awards, and in journals such as POETRY Magazine, Nimrod, Frontier Poetry, Palette Poetry, and Variant Lit. In 2020, she was crowned Woman of the World Poetry Slam Champion for the second time.
In addition to being an nationally renown poet, Imani has held leadership roles in arts administration Imani's work spans program design, curriculum development, artist partnerships, and consulting with schools, nonprofits, and cultural institutions to build impactful arts programming.
